    Spring Cleaning: Pantry Organization Tips

Hey friendship! I have been plagued by a messy pantry all winter and for once that is not an over-exaggeration.  While it’s not quite spring (because there’s 3 foot snow drifts outside), it made my house feel like it took a step towards spring. Let’s bite the bullet – here’s how my pantry was looking on a normal day, without mad cleaning it before guests came over: Yikes! Amiright? The biggest problem was most items had no “home” so they got thrown into the chaos of my pantry without rhyme or reason. Now I’ve seen beautiful pantry organization where everything has a place, container, and its nicely labelled, but that ultimately…

Rose Cake Icing Tips for Beginners Like Me

Hey friendship! The last month or so I’ve been practicing baking cakes as a hobby. I’m still an extremely novice baker, but I have made some progress. The cake I’ve been working on trying to trend towards perfection is the classic rose cake. If you’d like more insight into my journey as a whole here – you can read: Failing Forward: A Novice Cake Baker’s Journey. This blog post focuses specifically on some icing tips for a rose cake. This picture was my first rose cake, and as you can see, you get the idea but it is pretty rough. It’s not a cake that would bring much envy to…

    Warby Parker Review

Hey friendship! My very first post was about Warby Parker almost a year ago. Warby Parker is an online store (that has real life locations scattered around the country) that sells fashionable glasses at an affordable price. Their bread and butter I think is their try on at home service. They let you select up to 5 pairs of glasses to try on at home. They will ship it to you for free (and lightning fast I might add). You can read my review of their try at home service: Taylor Tries Warby Parker That was a whole year ago, and I never took the plunge of actually buying their glasses until recently.…

Failing Forward: a novice cake baker’s journey

Hey Friendship! When I was an intern, I had to read a book called Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell. I remember reading it and thinking, “ugh, this is dumb, irrelevant to my life, can’t wait to finish this and be done.” However, now it’s a book I think about every now and again. The whole premise was sharing stories of these mega success stories (many you probably heard of) but sharing the lesser known side of the struggles it took for them to get there. There’s so much focus put on success, that the failures many experienced are brushed off, or a simple footnote. For example – Oprah. Esteemed…

    Shea Shea Bakery Skincare Review

Hey friendship! Over the winter break, I stumbled upon a cute skincare line called Shea Shea Bakery. It’s a skincare line that is 100% natural, and crafted by the hand. The most novelty part of it – everything they sell looks and smells like food. From pancakes to donuts to so many flavors of cookies, it is a beautiful selection to browse. If you’ve read any of my other blogs, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I love a great theme. I also love a great product and Shea Shea has both. Body Butter Pancakes I bought the “Pancakes” body butter in 2oz (just because I…

How to Throw a Furs and Fondue Party

Hey friendship! I guess the first question you are probably asking – what is a furs and fondue party? The whole premise is – come over for a fondue, but with a twist, everyone has to wear their best faux fur. If you have friends that like to commit to a good theme, it’s the perfect winter gathering because it’s nice and cozy. I had a Pinterest mood board you can find HERE, for more ideas and inspiration if you decide to take this on yourself. The Menu We had about 14 people in total for attendance and I’m putting the measurements that seemed to work for this size of…

Things to Do in Kansas City: The Selfie Boutique

Hey Friendship! One of the closest “bigger” cities to me is Kansas City. It’s always been a fun weekend trip. Having been there so many times in my life, it can be hard to keep the trip fresh and fun. My last trip there, we made a visit to The Selfie Boutique. Technically, it’s located in Leawood, Kansas – but that’s just a stone’s throw away from Kansas City. Most pop-up, fun, instagramable places I see on Instagram and Pinterest are always in LA or NYC which is disappointing living so far away from there. However, The Selfie Boutique is right in the Midwest. Since I’ve started following them back…

    DIY Winter Terrarium Under $20

Hey friendship! Over the weekend I was getting some serious winter vibes.  We had our first genuine snow fall of the season and I wanted to put a little winter decor in my dining room to match the season.  I was Googling/Pinteresting all sorts of winter terrariums and got inspired to make my own.  I’m not quite sure the pictures do it justice. In real life, it looks stunning, and has furthered inspired me to keep this tradition up for upcoming seasons.  I think a little seasonal terrarium fun is just what I need in my life. What you’ll need: Epsom Salt Large-ish Vase Trees – In stores Target has…

    Home Office Makeover

Hey friendship! A couple weeks back I decided to reorganize my office.  I had a lot of loose papers, shelves littered with junk I only used once in a blue moon, and just a general disorganization.  The biggest culprit of my dissatisfaction of my office was this dead space in the corner: As you can see – just kind of a mess with no rhyme or reason. Random board games, wrapper paper, sombreros, a drone, boxes filled with unknowns, etc etc etc. My end result is here: I bought this storage cube organizer from Target and also 3 storage cube bins found HERE in a variety of colors.  My storage…

    DIY Ticket Stub Display

Hi Friendship, I’m plagued with a disease where I save numerous ticket stubs, but always shove them in a junk drawer and forget about them.  While re-organizing and purging unneeded things in my office I was met with the decision to trash all my ticket stubs or do something with them.  I opted to do something. I’m going to share the materials I got from Target (my first love) but really you could choose any sort of bulletin board, push pins, etc. What You’ll Need bulletin board [I got mine HERE] push pins [I got mine HERE] command strips [I got mine HERE] lots & lots of ticket stubs (you…
